Liz Leffman, prospective Lib Dem MP for Meon Valley, is delighted to have received a letter from the Acting Chief Executive of NHS Hampshire, confirming the opening of two new NHS dental practices in the Waterlooville area. This follows Liz's two year campaign to get more NHS dental provision for local residents.
Last summer, the BBC picked up on Liz's campaign, and came to Bishops Waltham to make a film about the appalling lack of NHS dental provision in Meon Valley. Hampshire NHS staff attended the filming and promised to do something about the situation.
"I am very pleased that Hampshire NHS has responded in this way" said Liz. "I have had letters from numerous people all over Meon Valley, who have found it impossible to find a dentist with an open waiting list. Now people in Waterlooville will have a better chance of getting the treatment that they seek.
"However, we still need NHS dentists in the Bishops Waltham area, and I will continue to press Hampshire NHS to make better provision for people living there"
A dental surgery opened in Stakes Hill Road in Waterlooville in February, and a new NHS practice is planned for Cowplain very soon. To make an appointment at the new surgery, people are advised to call the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Dental Helpline on 0845 0508345
